What treats the core cause of anxiety and/or panic is a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor or serotonin modulator. The one that I am most familiar with is a trade named Prozac, also known as Fluoxetine, its generic name. I do believe it is the longest marketed and researched/studied SSRI known to man. Prozac, also known by its generic name fluoxetine, was first patented by the pharmaceutical company Eli Lilly and Company on December 29, 1972. It was later approved by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for the treatment of depression in humans in December 1987.
